Shelby Neale died in a tragic Storm accident
In a tragic incident during a severe storm on May 21, 2022, Shelby Humble-Neale, a vibrant twenty-seven-year-old, lost her life due to a falling tree at Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area in Ayr. The local authorities reported that multiple individuals narrowly escaped the same fate.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers were met with a devastating sight a massive tree had toppled onto a camper trailer, completely obliterating it. Constable Conrad Vitalis of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) shared the details, stating that Humble-Neale suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Tragically, despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries. Additionally, two other individuals were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Vitalis recounted the series of events, explaining that approximately five or six people were camping in the area when they noticed the approaching storm and sought refuge inside the trailer. Unfortunately, shortly after entering the safety of the trailer, strong gusts of wind caused the tree to collapse, crushing the shelter and leading to injuries.
While urging people to remain vigilant during storms, law enforcement emphasized that such incidents are exceptionally rare. Constable Vitalis, with more than a decade of experience in Brant County, expressed his shock, stating that this was the first instance he had encountered a tree falling and causing harm to a person
Vitalis further reflected on the heartbreaking nature of the incident, highlighting the fact that the victims had been enjoying a long weekend camping trip. The sudden turn of events was truly devastating and left an indescribable sense of sorrow.
