Coach Giovanni Reumante, Aged 34, arrested for child s*x assault

Giovanni Reumante is a well-known track coach at Northwood High School in Silver Spring, Rockville, Maryland. He was just charged with criminal child s*x assault and molestation.

As a result, his detention at Washington Dulles International Airport on Tuesday has caused a stir in his home state. The news and charges are shocking, given his respectable athletic past and services to the school.

Giovanni Reumante, the track coach of Northwood High School, has been charged with child abuse.

After returning from a trip to Punta Cana, Giovanni Reumante was arrested at the airport. He was on leave and had taken a vacation to the Dominican Republic. He was apprehended at Dulles by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on felony child s*x abuse and molestation accusations.

They have not provided any other information about his arrest, though. Furthermore, there is no official mug shot of Reumante on display. According to reports, he has been handed over to the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority, which will begin legal actions against him.

When Did the Alleged Abuse Occur? Charging Documents & Victim Statement

According to statements from authorities and court documents, the inappropriate interactions and alleged sexual abuse occurred over a multi-year period, both during and after school hours.

In a letter sent on December 30th, Northwood High School Principal Jonathan Garrick stated that Reumante engaged in sexual intercourse with a former female student. Police also issued a press release confirming that the reported events transpired during and after school hours.

Remnant has worked as a track coach at Northwood since 2013. According to Montgomery County police, he began communicating inappropriately with the victim when she was a 15-year-old sophomore student at the school in 2014-2015.

According to the police, Reumante sexually assaulted the victim multiple times in his home and car during her senior year when she was 17 years old.

Detectives started investigating Reumante in October based on a statement provided in November by the now 22-year-old victim.

The victim told police she first had contact with Reumante in 2014-2015 when she was a 15-year-old sophomore. After texting him a question, they began having regular conversations in which he became flirtatious and said he was going to marry her.

During her junior year in 2015-2016, Reumante allegedly brought the 16-year-old victim into the school’s unlocked concession stand, kissed her, and touched her body. Police said this occurred during school hours.

In another instance, while spending time near the victim’s Silver Spring home, Reumante exposed himself to her and physical contact occurred, the victim reported it to the police.

After being charged with child sexual abuse and molestation, Judge Rand Gelber set Giovanni Reumante’s bond at $25,000 during his initial court appearance.

Judge Orders 10% Payment for Release

Judge Gelber stipulated that Reumante must pay 10% of the $25,000 bond amount – equal to $2,500 – to secure his release from detention as the case proceeds through the courts.

This 10% payment is known as a cash percentage bond, where the defendant must provide payment of a percentage of the full bond amount upfront before being released.

Giovanni Reumante’s age as of 2024 is shown to be 34 years old. He attended Northwood High School, In 2005, he was one of the school’s inaugural track athletes. Following graduation, he attended Morgan State University in Baltimore. When he returned to his previous school, he had established himself as a well-known coach.

After that, in 2006, Reumante joined the cross-country team. He had won the indoor 800-meter at the State Meet during his senior year of high school. Despite Reumante’s success, the school did not win any sporting events, including cross country and track and field.

Giovanni Reumante’s entire family tree is still being investigated. Meanwhile, Run Washington claims that he has a younger sibling who attended Northwood High School as well. As a result, it’s safe to assume that the majority of the Reumnate family members from Takoma Park attended the school.
