Controversial Major Mfesane Bhekizulu, an Eastern Cape businessman, has denied being involved in the murder of his girlfriend, Singwa Namhla Mtwa.
Mtwa, a 35-year-old OR Tambo municipal employee, was shot nine times in her car after arriving at her Mthatha house in Sidwadwa on April 21. She was found dead at the site with gunshot wounds to her upper torso.
No one has been charged as a result of the incident.
After her family unlocked her cellphone and uncovered unsettling messages supposedly written by him, authorities have turned their attention to Bhekizulu, her 41-year-old businessman partner, according to News24.
On social media, members of the public have sworn to deal with the man themselves.
Bhekizulu told News24 on Sunday that citizens should let the police do their job and that he was not the person they should be looking for.

Bhekizulu was arrested in September 2018 for allegedly shooting and killing his employee Mxolisi Mthunjwa on August 11 and critically injuring another, Thmebela Somana.
On allegations of premeditated murder and attempted murder, the Ngqeleni Magistrate’s Court in Mthatha granted the businessman R50 000 bail.
At the time of writing, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Luxolo Tyali was unable to clarify the progress of the court case.
Mtwa’s bruises have gone viral in photos.
Screenshots of the supposedly sent to Mtwa stream of messages have also gone viral.
Mtwa apparently pleaded with him to let her rest and recover from the injuries he allegedly inflicted, but he threatened to injure her further, according to the screenshots. She allegedly explained that her injuries prevented her from driving and that she needed to see a doctor.
A lengthy note, apparently from Mtwa, apologizing for disappointing him was also seen in the screenshots.
