Victor Steeman, A Dutch motorcycle racer, Dies at 22

Victor Steeman, a Dutch motorcycle racer, died after being involved in a bike crash while competing when he was just 22.

Victor was involved in a “multi-rider incident” while competing in the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme Supersport 300 World Championship’s Race 1 in Portugal on Oct. 8, 2022.

“Medical team and vehicles arrived at the site immediately and the rider was attended to trackside and at circuit medical Centre and after some time, he was transferred by helicopter to Faro Hospital,” the statement read. Despite the best efforts of the circuit’s medical staff, marshals, and hospital staff, Steeman sadly died after some days after a fatal accident.

Victor Steeman’s family has expressed their “unbearable loss and grief” in a statement saying, “Something you have always been afraid of as a parent of a motorcycle racer has now happened. Our Victor could not win his last race. Despite the unbearable loss and grief, we are very proud to share with you that our hero, through his passing, was able to save other 5 people by donating his organs to the hospital. We would like to thank everyone for the way you have lived with us and also over the past few days. We are going to miss our Victor enormously.”

Victor Steeman was a Dutch motorcycle racer who competed in the Supersport 300 World Championship intermittently from 2018 until 2022.  Steeman died because of his injuries from a crash at the first race of the Portimão round of that season on 11 October 2022.

Riding In his KTM RC 390 R, Steeman scored his first world championship point and ended him in the fifteenth position in Portimão GP.

After that, he won the first pole position in the Jerez GP, which allowed him to start in both races held during the grand Prix. His best position during that season was in Donington with 4th place finish. He ended that season in fifth place in the overall standings of that championship.

In the Year 2020, Steeman also competed in the German IDM championship in six hundred class. At that time victor won both races in Assen and he finished that season in 5th position.
