The tragic passing of Police Captain Paul Jamolawicz has left the City of Bayonne in sadness. On Friday night, the long-time police veteran passed away suddenly while on duty. This news has given the sudden shock and has left all his loved ones in grief.
Jamolawicz had worked for the police force since 1985, according to Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, and he was a local business owner.
His reason for death is still unknown.
In 52 years, this is Bayonne’s first death in the line of duty.
Jamolawicz started working for the police in 1985. The retired cop leaves behind his wife and two kids.
The department withheld the death’s cause.

Captain Paul Jamolawicz passed away unexpectedly while on duty on Friday night, according to a statement made by Police Chief Robert Geisler and shared on Facebook.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the death of Bayonne Police Department Captain Paul Jamolawicz,” said Police Chief Robert Geisler in a statement. “Captain Jamolawicz died unexpectedly tonight while on duty serving our community. On behalf of the City of Bayonne and the Bayonne Police Department, I would like to express our condolences to the Jamolawicz Family.”
Outside the hospital in Bayonne, police officers came to pay their condolences.
Mayor Jimmy Davis, who said he made acquainted with Jamolawicz during their time working in the police department together, said Jamolawicz started his career there in 1985.
“Paul was an outstanding police officer as well as a devoted family man to his wife Jeanne, daughter Lori Anne and son Paul Jr.,” Davis said in a statement. “Paul’s love of family and this city was evident every day of his life and his friendship will be sorely missed.”
According to the mayor, Jamolawicz was a well-known businessman in Bayonne who operated Manny’s Liquors and First Street Laundromat.

“Please keep Paul’s family in your thoughts and prayers, as well as our great Police Department, who are dealing with their first line of duty death in 52 years,” Davis said.

Paul Jamolawicz was a married man. He was happily settlers with his lovely family. He was married to his wife Jeanne. The couple was blessed with 2 children. Their daughter is Lorri Anne and their son is Paul Jr. His dear family members survive him.

Paul Jamolawicz was a 37 years veteran police captain in the city of Bayonne. He was a polite man who had lots of colleagues and was never an eyesore. He started his career in the year 1985. Jamolawicz was a well-known businessman in Bayonne who operated Manny’s Liquors and First Street Laundromat.
Jamolawicz started working in 1985, a year before Jimmy Davis, the current mayor, joined the force. He held positions with the Internal Affairs Division, Detective Bureau, Narcotics Unit, and Patrol.
In 1999, he was made sergeant; in 2013, lieutenant; and in 2018, captain.
