Sandra Mallette was killed in a fire Accident
Officers were sent to Cawthorpe Street early on Wednesday morning in response to a report of a disturbance. When they got there, they discovered that one of the apartment building’s units had caught fire.
Firefighters were called to the scene after the fire quickly spread to other units. Tragically, the fire claimed the life of one person. A Sudbury, Ontario, resident named Sandra Mallette has been named as the victim.

A possible fire on the property was reported, and the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) responded. The City of Greater Sudbury Fire Services was immediately notified when officers arrived on the scene and discovered that there was an active fire inside the house (GSFS).
A 29-year-old woman was found dead on the property after the fire was put out by GSFS, who also discovered her body while searching the area. She was declared dead at the scene.
Although the death is not being looked into as suspicious, detectives from the GSPS’s Serious Crime Unit are currently collaborating with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Office of the Coroner to identify the woman’s cause of death and the circumstances surrounding it.
The coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Once finished, we will have a clearer picture of what happened and be able to inform the public with more details.
