Roland Mesnier was a professional French-born enfranchised American Pastry Cook. He served 25 years of his working years in the White House as Executive Pastry Chef. He earned his reputation by working and serving the Presidents of the United States.

Altogether, he served 5 different Presidents of the United States. He was a creative genius in this pastry work. He is one of the longest-serving chefs in the White House.

Famous Pastry Chef, Roland Meisner,one of the longest serving chefs of White House died on August 26,2022 in Burke,Virginia at the age of 78. He died of Cancer on August 22. His death was confirmed on Saturday by the White House Historical Association. 

He often created magical desserts for 5 presidents in the White House and he has also written a book named ‘All the President’s Pastries’ before he died. His family is devastated and heartbroken after his demise.

Mesnier was born on July 4, 1944, in Bonnay, France. He was born into a family of nine children in the remote valley of Bonnay, France. Roland was born in a large family in a tiny village. He became interested in becoming a chef when he first visited his brother’s bakery in a nearby city.

Roland was delighted by the smell of fresh fruit in the kitchen. When he aged 14, his mother fixed a studentship for him at a Pastry Shop in Besancon. He worked from 6 am to 8 am six days a week. He was first taught to make a cake, Brioche, and Croissants.

Roland Meisner Professional Career as a Pastry Chef

When he was 14 years, his mother apprenticeship him in a Pastry Shop. he used to work there 6 days a week. Like other young students, he was also given only low-grade tasks. And later he was taught to make cake and pastries. At 17, he passed his apprenticeship exam and began to look for work that can increase both his skills and reputation.

By and By, he found his way to Paris, working in a restaurant and pastry shop. He soon mastered it and on the advice of his employer, he then went to West Germany, where techniques were more advanced. He was hired as White House pastry chef in 1979 by Rosalynn Carter and retired on July 30, 2004.
