Julian Becerra, a fountain police officer, and an Air Force veteran who has been serving as a police officer for 5 years has died following injuries he got from falling off a bridge.
Fountain Police Officer Julian Becerra Loses Battle After High-Speed Chase Accident
His untimely death has left the Fountain Police Department and all those who knew him, with a heavy heart. On Feb 2, while on a pursuit, Julian suffered a fatal fall from a 40-ft bridge, leaving behind a legacy of bravery, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to his community.

On Saturday evening, the Fountain Police Department made a public announcement of Julian’s passing, stating
As a tribute to Julian’s life of service, police and fire departments from all communities will come together on Friday night at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs to offer their condolences and support. A motorcycle cop from the Colorado Springs Police Department is expected to be a part of the procession, as it heads south from 2222 N Nevada Avenue to Cascade Avenue.
He will also be remembered as a K9 Officer. Who was assigned to the Patrol Division after four and a half years of service with the Fountain Police Department.
“It’s one of those things where you never think that it will happen to you or your family.”
His brother-in-law David Alderman stated,
Yet, the reality is that Julian made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting his community. He will forever be remembered as a true hero, who lived and died with honor.
What exactly caused the bridge accident of Julian Becerra?
On February 2nd, Officer Julian Becerra of the Fountain Police Department was involved in a high-speed chase to capture a suspect wanted for a carjacking in Pueblo. The suspect led officers on a pursuit that lasted for hours, traveling up and down the I-25. The chase ended at Love’s Travel Plaza where the suspect attempted to steal another vehicle before rejoining the pursuit on I-25.
During the chase, a woman reported nearly being kidnapped at the gas station and had to turn on the gas while her husband was inside the store. The suspect fled the police on foot and in the process, Officer Becerra attempted to apprehend the suspect. However, during the struggle, Officer Becerra fell off a bridge and plummeted 40 feet below.
The accident was a traumatic one, and Officer Becerra was transported to the hospital by a rescue helicopter after a one-hour wait. Despite initial reports of critical condition, Officer Becerra was listed as stable and recovering at CS Hospital. He has been serving as part of the Patrol K9 Division for four. And a half years and has made a significant impact in his community.

The three suspects in the carjacking case have been identified as Devon, 31, Danisha Pacheco, 28, and Anthony Vallejos. They face multiple charges and more may be added as the investigation continues.

Julian brother-in-law is fundraising for his sister Katie
Air Force veteran and police officer, Julian Becerra, was injured in the line of duty on February 2nd, 2023. While attempting to apprehend carjacking suspects. Becerra sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
