Well-known Gold Coast filmmaker, Jed Cahil, dies at aged 43

People from all over the world are paying respect to Jed Cahil, a well-known Gold Coast Australian filmmaker who passed away from terminal brain cancer. He was a cherished Vikings champion.

After a year-long battle with brain cancer, Jed Cahil passed away on Friday. He learned that he had cancer in March of last year, and Jed has since undergone surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment.

After receiving a diagnosis of an aggressive form of brain cancer, he was given just 12 months to live. He lived longer thanks to the treatment he received in Germany, but it did not prevent him from passing away.

Ben Munro, president of the Currumbin SLSC, said: “Jed had a heart the size of the ocean. His booming voice and boisterous laughter served as a rallying call for joy. He was obnoxious and lovable. His life had a profound impact on so many others. You were simply better off after learning about Jed.”

To help Jed, a charity film festival called Shorts for Jed will be held tomorrow, June 5, at 6 p.m. at the HOTA (Home of the Arts), Surfers Paradise.
