The 51-year-old Italian motorcycle racer Davide Rebellin lost his life in an accident

Davide Rebellin’s unexpected demise has startled people all around the world. A top-ten finisher in more than fifty UCI Road World Cups and UCI ProTour classics made him known as a classics specialist during his era. On 30 November 2022, at the age of 51, Rebellin was killed after being struck by a truck while out on a training ride, according to the report.

The event occurred at Montebello Vicentino just before noon, and according to the local newspaper Il Gazzettino, Rebellin died instantly. Although it’s not clear if they were aware of the impact, Il Gazzettino reported that the driver did not stop at the scene of the tragedy. In spite of this, police are seeking to trace the driver and reconstruct the incident.

After turning pro in 1992, Rebellin quickly caught the eye of the cycling community thanks to a streak of impressive early results. His first UCI Road World Cup triumphs came in 1997 when he won the Classica de San Sabastian and the Zuri-Metzger.

In the years that followed, Rebellin won a lot of prestigious Italian classic races. In the 2004 season, he tallied seven triumphs, including what was at the time an unheard-of treble victory in the Ardennes classics. Rebellin had a great year in 2005 but fell short of his 2004 victories.

He specialized in local tours and classic races, but he rode for the Gerolsteiner team in the 2005 Tour de France.It was considered that he was one of the best classics specialists of his time and has had more than fifty top 10 results in UCI Road World Cups and UCI ProTour classics.

In the cycling world, he became most famous for his 2004 triple crown of wins, which was unheard of then. He was suspended for two years after testing positive for Mircera at the 2008 Olympics.
