American sports broadcaster and television host Hank Goldberg was headquartered in Miami, Florida. From 1978 until 1992, he served as the Miami Dolphins’ radio color analyst.

Liz, his sister, confirmed that Goldberg had passed away. Despite his health rapidly deteriorating over the last couple of years, he continued to work until three weeks ago. He battled kidney disease for seven years before passing away.

Later, in the middle of the 1970s, Jimmy Snyder invited him to write his nationally syndicated column as his ghostwriter. Goldberg started as Snyder’s assistant for four years before taking over as the Dolphin’s radio color analyst in 1978. In the same year, Larry King, who had left both positions to launch The Larry King Show, suggested him for the position of sports talk show host at WIOD.

In 1983, Goldberg then started working as a sports analyst for WTVJ. He earned the nicknames “The Hammer” and “Hammerin’ Hank” at this time because he would strike a gavel against the desk during arguments with his co-host. He maintained all three of the aforementioned positions concurrently until he was fired from WIOD in 1992 for openly defying the direction of his program director.

Hank subsequently joined the struggling rival station WQAM and eventually overtook WIOD in the ratings. The next year, soon after their debut, he began working for ESPN2 and ESPN Radio. To make his NFL picks, he went on NFL Countdown and worked three times every week with Keith Olbermann and Tony Bruno.


Until his contract terminated on December 31, 2007, Goldberg continued to work for WQAM. He had previously turned down a new contract offer that would have resulted in a wage cut of 60%. Two months after the US Supreme Court invalidated the federal legislation that made sports betting illegal, he relocated to Las Vegas in July 2018.
