Geeta Devi, the mother of actor Manoj Bajpayee, passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 80 in a New Delhi hospital, according to news outlet PTI. The actor’s representative broke the news of Manoj Bajpayee’s mother’s passing. The actor’s spokesperson stated that his mother Geeta Devi passed away on Thursday at 8:30 am at the Delhi hospital after being ill for more than 20 days.
“Manoj Bajpayee’s mother Geeta Devi passed away today at 8:30 am. She wasn’t keeping well for the past 20 days and was undergoing treatment at Max Super Speciality Hospital,”
the statement from the spokesperson read.
Geeta Devi is survived by three daughters and two additional boys.

On April 23, 1969, in a small town called Belwa close to the city of Bettiah in West Champaran, Bihar, Bajpayee was born into a brahmin household. He was given the name Manoj Kumar in honor of the star and is the second child among his five other siblings. Poonam Dubey, one of his younger sisters, works as a fashion designer for the motion picture industry. His mother was a homemaker, and his father was a farmer. He had always dreamed of being an actor.
His father struggled to raise the necessary funds for their education. Up until the fourth grade, he attended a “hut school,” and after that, he attended Khrist Raja High School in Bettiah. He graduated from Maharani Janaki Kunwar in the 12th grade.
At the age of seventeen, he moved to Delhi and applied to the National School of Drama, only to receive four rejection letters. While attending college, he kept performing in plays. With a one-minute cameo in Drohkaal and a little part as a dacoit in Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen, Bajpayee made his feature film debut (1994).
He had a few unremarkable roles before landing the breakout role of criminal Bhiku Mhatre in Ram Gopal Varma’s crime film Satya in 1998. Both the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor and the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor went to Bajpayee for the movie. Later, he appeared in movies like Kaun and Shool. He received his second Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for the latter.
