A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the Christmas Eve shooting death of a 26-year-old man in a Merseyside pub.

A 19-year-old woman from Rock Ferry was detained on charges of the murder plot, they said. Detectives have taken both suspects into custody and will interview them.
Four other people who were at the pub were also injured – one of those, a 28-year-old man from Beechwood in Wirral, is still receiving medical treatment, police said. Flowers and other tributes have been laid at the scene, including a note signed “mum and dad” which read:
“To my beautiful Elle, you are the light of my life, you will never be gone.” A heart-shaped plaque bearing a pink and green floral design read: “Special Daughter, the happiness you brought in your own special way, will be remembered with love each and every day.”
Merseyside Police believe Ms. Edwards, who was also known as Ellie, was not the target of the attack. Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs described her death as a “cold-blooded shooting”. “Elle’s family are still having to come to terms with her tragic loss, and our specially trained family liaison officers are supporting them,” she said on Monday evening.
“We will not rest until we bring those responsible to justice.”
Earlier, Ms. Edwards’ colleagues at Nova Hair and Beauty Studio in Moreton, Wirral, said they were “absolutely lost for words”.
“Heaven gained the most beautiful angel, we are all heartbroken, thinking of your family right now Elle,”
On Christmas Eve
About 23:50 GMT, several bullets were fired toward the Lighthouse’s entrance. The bar was filled, mostly with young folks. Ms. Edwards was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital and declared deceased.
When the gunfire began, everyone believed they heard fireworks, according to one of Ms. Edwards’ friends, Jess. “But then everything just stopped, and we got a hunch something wasn’t right,” she said to Sky News on Monday.
She described herself as “numb” when she saw her buddy on the floor, surrounded by strangers attempting to assist her. Police are seeking more information, particularly from people who were present at the bar at the time of the incident.

“We are also asking to motorists and people in the vicinity who may have recorded anything on Dashcam or CCTV to contact us,”
Det Supt Coombs added.
Merseyside Police had previously said that it has increased its presence in the area after the incident. It follows previous high-profile shootings on Merseyside in the last year, including the murders of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, nine, and Ashley Dale, a Knowsley Council worker.
