For stabbing Reginald Daye, who passed away ten days later, Crystal was convicted guilty of second-degree murder in November 2013. She asserted that she acted in self-defense out of concern that Daye would murder her. She was given a sentence of 14 to 18 years in jail.

In 2010, Mangum’s daughter, who was 9 years old, summoned Durham police to her home just before midnight. They asserted that when they arrived, they got into a fight with Milton Walker, Mangum’s roommate.

She allegedly set some of his clothing on fire in front of them in a bathtub. Building damage from smoke was significant. On suspicion of misdemeanor child abuse, attempted murder, first-degree arson, assault and battery, identity theft, sending threats, destroying property, and damaging it, Mangum was detained.

Mangum was sentenced to time in prison on a $1 million bond. She was released from detention in May when it was later reduced to $100,000 and she moved in with a friend.

The dancer, who was placed under house arrest starting on July 12, 2010, and ordered to live with her mother, was required to wear a device for electronic surveillance.
