Argentine club footballer, Andres Balanta passes away during practice
Andres Balanta was a Colombian midfielder who had collapsed during a training session for Atletico Tucuman of Argentina’s top division, died on Tuesday at the Tucumán Health Center hospital. Balanta allegedly received emergency care from medical professionals who attempted to resuscitate him; nevertheless, his death was subsequently confirmed.
He was confirmed dead when he arrived at the Centro de Salud hospital after attempts to resuscitate him by the club’s medical personnel proved unsuccessful. It was the club’s second preseason training.
After his death, the club notified his relatives.
“We put everything at our disposal so that they come to this province as soon as possible,”
the club’s leaders reported in a conference.
Balanta was hospitalized in 2019 for a similar condition. He then passed out during training and had to be hospitalized.
“He had suffered a metabolic-type syncope (slight fainting) due to low glucose, although the MRI and electrocardiogram performed on him at that time did not show anything abnormal,”
At the youth level, Andrés Balanta represented his country. The technical director Lucas Pusineri specifically requested that he join Atlético Tucumán in June 2022 on loan from Deportivo Cali until June 2023 with a purchase option. This was his first experience playing abroad. On November 29, 2022, while practicing in Tucumán, Argentina, Balanta had a cardiorespiratory arrest and passed out. For 40 minutes, medical workers unsuccessfully tried to revive the patient.
