Matt Araiza is an American football punter who played college football at San Diego State, where he set the NCAA season record for average punt yardage as a junior, earning him the nickname “Punt God”. Araiza was born on May 16, 2000, in San Diego, California, United States of America.

He was selected by the Buffalo Bills of National Football League (NFL) in the sixth round of the 2022 draft but was released prior to 2022 season after being accused of gang r*pe. Araiza is now in the headlines of news after being accused of gang rape.

 Matt Araiza was the Bills’ sixth-round draft pick for the 2022 NFL season. The release of Matt Araiza comes after civil lawsuit was filed on August 25 against him and two other currently former San Diego State Aztecs football players – Nowlin Ewaliko and Zavier Leonard.

The three players were accused of s*xually assaulting a teen girl in October of 2021. The Buffalo Bills had previously said that they were aware of allegations against Araiza and were conducting their own investigation, which has seemingly lead to their decision to release Araiza.

The coach of Buffalo Bills Sean McDermott said that Araiza “seemed to understand, and I think when we spoke again this morning, that he agreed that was probably the best thing.”

Matt wasn’t at practice Saturday after being held out of Friday’s preseason game against Carolina Panthers and wasn’t on the sideline during the game or in the locker room after the game was over.

Victim Jane Doe’s statement against three football players

According to the alleged victim, who remains identified as Jane Doe in lawsuit, claims she attended an off-campus party on the evening of October 16, 2021 and into morning on October 17. She claimed that she and few friends were out in San Diego area to attend Halloween parties.

Through the Snapchat group, it was discovered the location of a nearby party where Araiza himself allegedly answered the door. She claims that although she was not much intoxicated, Araiza allegedly approached her with an alcoholic beverage containing “intoxicating substances.”

After that she claimed in the lawsuit that Araiza allegedly led her into a bedroom in house where at least “three other men, including defendant Ewaliko and Leonard,” were waiting for them. The three are then accused in the lawsuit of taking turns raping her for an hour and a half.

Jane Doe went to San Diego police to report the gang r*pe on her in October 18.
