DeSaulnier championed the Industrial Safety Ordinance and the Refinery Flare Rule for neighborhood chemical and refinery operations while he served on the Board of Supervisors. He was on the executive boards of the Bay Area Air Quality Management and the Association of Bay Area Governments.
DeSaulnier supported strict environmental restrictions while serving on the Air Resources Board. DeSaulnier established a Women’s Health Program at the county level to meet Contra Costa County’s medical needs.
