Vishwa Deenadayalan, an 18-year-old table tennis player from Tamil Nadu died in a road accident while traveling from Guwahati to Shillong by taxi on Sunday, the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) said in a statement.

Vishwa Deenadayalan, an 18-year-old Tamil Nadu table tennis player, died in a road accident while traveling by taxi from Guwahati to Shillong on Sunday, according to the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).
He was traveling from Guwahati to Shillong with three teammates for the 83rd Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships, which begin on Monday.
The three others traveling with Vishwa, Ramesh Santosh Kumar, Abinash Prasannaji Srinivasan, and Kishore Kumar, all received serious injuries but were declared stable by the doctors attending to them.
“A 12-wheel trailer traveling in the other direction plowed through the road barrier and collided with the cab near Shangbangla, just after the Umliy check post, plunging into the gorge,” according to the TTFI release.
The taxi driver died on the spot, and the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences declared Vishwa dead.
The organizers, with the support of the Meghalaya government, transported Vishwa and his three teammates to the hospital.
