The single-engine aircraft, thought to be an Aero Commander 100, landed on US Route 19 near a bridge in Swain County at 11:45 a.m. on July 3, according to the local county sheriff’s office.

Video Footage shows Fraser looking for a little opening between automobiles to avoid creating a dangerous collision as the monoplane slowly descends on the roadway.
The plane’s captain stated that the emergency landing was caused by engine failure and that his father-in-law was aboard at the time, as they were inspecting a recently acquired property near Fontana Lake.
‘I started going through my checklist and I was able to restart the airplane and kind of fly a little bit, but she would only sore for 3 to 5 seconds before coming back down and starting to sink again,’ pilot Vincent Fraser told WMYA.
Because it was the only patch of flat terrain in an otherwise hilly location, the main road ended up being his best landing choice as well.
‘By the grace of God, I looked to my left, and you couldn’t see it before because, you know, it’s just all valleys and mountains,’ Fraser explained to WMYA.
On July 3, the single-engine plane landed on US Route 19 in Swain County.
There were two individuals on board the plane at the time, and no injuries were recorded.
