His former bandmate Taasha Coates verified the terrible news. “It breaks my heart to have to inform you that, despite our best efforts to have Tristan recover, he passed away over the weekend. His age was 48,” she stated on social media. “I’ve spoken to a tonne of individuals who knew Tristan in the last few days, and the outpouring of affection has been incredible. His lovely music, his large heart, his big hugs, and his big silly laugh affected so many of us.

Coates went on to recall her first meetings with Goodall. In 1997, Tristan and I met in Adelaide. We had unrealistic ideas of traveling the world with a band when we were in college. The fact that Tristan was a member of a rock band struck this thin jazz singer with acute stage fright as being so cool.

But Tristan saw something in me, and when we began collaborating on music and songwriting, a whole new universe began to open up. No cause of death for Goodall has been determined. Sadly, his deteriorating health prompted him to stop traveling with The Audreys in 2020.

Coates continued by recalling her initial encounters with Goodall. I first met Tristan in Adelaide in 1997. When we were in college, we had irrational dreams of performing all over the world with a band. This slender jazz vocalist with severe stage fright thought it was so cool that Tristan played in a rock band.

But Tristan saw something in me, and as we started working together on songs and music, a whole new world started to open up. Goodall’s cause of death is still unknown. He sadly had to cease traveling with The Audreys in 2020 due to his failing health.

Before Sometimes the Stars, original members Cameron Goodall and Michael Green departed the group. Thereafter, Coates and Goodall dominated The Audreys, with a number of renowned musicians occasionally joining in.
