Huske, 18, of Arlington, Virginia, qualified for the Tokyo Olympics after breaking her own American record in the women’s 100-meter butterfly on Monday night on June 14, 2021. This year, her time of 55.66 seconds is the fastest in the world.
Claire Curzan, a 16-year-old from Cary, North Carolina, finished second, 0.77 seconds behind Huske, to secure a position on the team for Tokyo.
Huske swam 55.78 in the semifinal on Sunday, breaking Dana Vollmer’s nine-year-old American record. Huske will swim for Stanford in the fall.
