Anna Mamalakis Pappas, mother of Yannis Pappas and a Greek immigrant to the United States. Born during the Nazi occupation of Crete, Pappas witnessed war atrocities and later experienced segregation in the U.S.
She became one of the few women lawyers of her time and worked on important human rights cases, including arguing an immigration case before the U.S. Supreme Court. Pappas was a passionate advocate for the rights of children, and her legacy lives on in her family. Sadly, his mother, Anna Pappas is also not with us. She died on 18 March 2022.

In one of his Instagram posts, he mentioned that his father, Chris always wanted to see her grandchild before his death. Unfortunately, he couldn’t see her but her grandchild was born exactly on Chris’ 1st birthday after he passed away.
I waited a long time for my Father’s Day gift but I finally got this. My father past away a year before my daughter was born. All he wanted was a grandchild towards the end. Unfortunately, he never got to meet her BUT my daughter was born on his exact 1st birthday after he passed which was ALSO her due date. I can’t help but be floored by that. I don’t know what it means, but I know what it feels like. Maybe there are no answers to the deepest questions because at that level there’s only feelings. This painting of us together is a next level gift. I wish you my type of luck. My dad told me I married the right woman. Know when you’re lucky and you’ll be fine.
