Veteran Bengali movie producer Tarun Majumdar passed away on Monday in Kolkata after a lengthy illness. He was 91 years old. On June 14, Majumdar was taken to the SSKM Hospital in the city because of chronic kidney and heart issues. He reportedly started using a ventilator on Sunday and died early on Monday.

Majumdar was initially kept in the Woodburn ward of the SSKM Hospital after being admitted, but the reports state that when his condition deteriorated, he was moved to the basic care unit. After a brief improvement over the previous three days, his condition began to deteriorate once more on Sunday, necessitating the need to place him on a ventilator. The senior chief died on Monday at 11:18 a.m. at the facility after the physicians were unable to rescue him, according to Anandabazaar Patrika.
