This led to the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund charging the city’s police department with racial profiling and pursuing a class-action lawsuit. In 2002 and 2006, Womack was unopposed for reelection, and he held the position until he decided to run for Congress in 2010.

She was one of 35 Republicans who joined the 217 Democrats present on May 19, 2021, in voting to adopt legislation creating the January 6 panel intended to look into the Capitol building storming. Womack supported H.R. 550, the Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act of 2021, on November 30.
