F1 President Stefano Domenicali has given key details about the calendar for 2022.

He anticipates a record-breaking 23 races in the 2022 Formula One schedule. Domenicali wants the season to end early, preferably in November, despite the increased number of races.

“I am confident that the calendar will be completed with 23 races.

“Of course, we will adhere to the Covid laws that have been imposed by various governments throughout the world. But it is our goal that F1 can serve as a sign of hope, encouraging people to return to normal activities.

“The goal is to ensure that the calendar has the proper rhythm. Of course, there are time concerns to ensure that the flow is correct logistically.

“One thing I can tell you without giving too much away is that the season will begin in the middle of March and end in the middle of November next year.”

Further Information

“Because we’re getting such excellent feedback, we need to know that we’ve got a strong plan in place for next year, and we’ll take into account the concerns raised by those who didn’t enjoy the format. Generally speaking, it has been a huge success.

“I can assure you that the Sprint qualy format will not be used everywhere. It’s something we’d like to preserve for around a third of the races in order to link with a unique style of awarding awards and points, as well as special circuits that, as you know, make all the difference.

“There’s a lot to think about here. All stakeholders will be involved, including broadcasters, drivers, teams, promoters, and fans. We will not lose sight of the fact that it is our responsibility to make the best decision possible while taking into account everyone’s concerns and points of view.”
