Spencer Rattler was born on September 28, 2000, in Phoenix, Arizona. He spent four years of high school at Pinnacle High School in Phoenix. On his 18th birthday, he surpassed Arizona’s previous high school passing rate.

During his final year at Pinnacle, Rattler appeared in QB1: Beyond the Lights Netflix sports documentary series, which was created and directed by Peter Berg. Rattler was later barred from participating for the remainder of the season after breaking a district code of conduct.

The school administration later urged him not to discuss the specifics of the code of conduct infraction because he had initially claimed to have a sprained MCL.

The quarterback was rated a 4-star by ESPN. he was also regarded as the undisputed top quarterback in the class of 2019 recruits.

Rattler enrolled at Oklahoma on June 12, 2019. He participated in the College Football Playoff Semifinal Game against LSU’s second half. He played three games allowing him to redshirt his first year of college. Rattler did not play the remainder of the season after being benched for Caleb Williams during the Oklahoma game against Texas in the second quarter.  Spencer made his transfer to the University of South Carolina to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks officially in December 2021.
