At White House Middle School, a teacher’s assistant was detained today on suspicion of statutory r*pe.

While working at White House Middle School, 42-year-old Shaundra F. Cartwright had an improper relationship with a male pupil. The romance started when he was 15 years old. According to Millersville Police, the two began engaging in s*xual activity two years ago when Cartwright started corresponding with the student on Snapchat.

When the now-17-year-worried old’s family member contacted MPD investigators, they started looking into the situation.

After additional inquiry, authorities learned that Cartwright and the student had engaged in inappropriate s*xual activity around 15 times before it was reported. In August 2022, MPD detectives submitted this case to the Sumner County Grand Jury.

According to the police, sealed indictments were returned against Cartwright for statutory r*pe by a person in power and ongoing child s*xual abuse. Tuesday, Cartwright was detained at the Sumner County Jail after being apprehended.

According to Sumner County Schools, Cartwright has been placed on administrative leave without pay while awaiting the result of the criminal allegations brought against her.
