Ex-NFL linebacker Bobby Carpenter confirmed Olivea’s death on Thursday. The former Buckeye standout was reported to have died at 40. The sobering news that @OhioStateFB lost a great one this morning came on the heels of the birthdays of two of Carpenter’s close friends. “Schlegs and Nuge woke to this news,” Carpenter tweeted.
Olivea played offensive tackle for the Ohio State Beavers from 2000-2003, winning the Big 10 title as a national champion. His former San Diego Chargers teammate Roman Oben also paid tribute to the deceased.
