That’s when Chuck admitted that he had initially discovered his friend in the bathroom and had moved his body outdoors to make it appear more like a suicide in order to expedite Martha Ann’s death benefits, which would otherwise take a long time.
In 2006, the soldier enrolled in an inpatient PTSD treatment program, where he met Kaczmarczyk, who remained a close buddy after the program finished. Only a few months after reporting his friend’s death to the authorities, Kaczmarczyk married McClancy’s widow.

Following that, an investigation into Chuck and Martha’s lives began, revealing that they were deliberately cheating the government by falsely claiming to be Vietnam veterans or disabled in order to earn tax-free money.
