Barbara Cochran, a gold winner in the slalom at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan, taught Cochran-Siegle to ski when he was around two years old. He joined the United States Development Team after the 2010 season and was promoted to the National B Team a year later.
In 2011, he won the Nor-Am Cup super-G and finished third in the super-G at the US national championships. In November 2011, Cochran-Siegle made his World Cup debut at the Lake Louise downhill, however, he did not finish. He earned his first World Cup points in a super-G at Beaver Creek, Colorado, a week later, finishing 29th.
Cochran-Siegle won the Nor-Am downhill and super-G titles in 2012, as well as two gold medals in downhill and combined at the Junior World Championships. However, during the downhill section of the combined at the World Championships in 2013, he suffered injuries to his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments, halting his development.
In 2014, he returned to competition and won the Nor-Am Cup overall, finishing second in the downhill standings and third in the super-G and giant slalom standings.
