Balmain’s purse, make-up, diary, credit cards, and keys to her Bellevue Hill flat were discovered scattered around many Kingsford streets the next day, November 5. One of her shell-studded platform shoes was found on one lane, while the other was discovered on another. Balmain’s client informed police that he had taken her to the nearby Red Tomato Inn about 7 p.m. on the night in question.

In 2008, forensic findings suggested that Balmain was murdered in the home of Gavin Owen Samer, a client whom she had met. The coronial investigation in 1999 suggested Samer as a suspect but did not propose charges. Balmain’s family still believes the police investigation into his disappearance had significant shortcomings.

“Losing someone that is close to you – you’re never the same person again. I truly hope this reward will prompt someone to come forward with information that will help police find those responsible for Revelle’s disappearance. It is my personal hope that this reward may also help us find Revelle – so that I may finally put her to rest.”

Ms Balmain had told friends she had fallen in love and was about to embark on a six-week dance tour of Japan before she vanished. She was employed as a sex worker, but her last shift was scheduled for November 5, the day she was last seen alive. She was last saw in public after her agency’s driver dropp her off at a Kingsford address.

An investigation was launched the following Monday, and those close to Ms Balmain were immediately concerned. After an inquest in 1999, the coroner ruled Ms Balmain had been murdered and the matter was referred to NSW Police’s unsolved homicide unit.
