In 2016, he collaborated with a TOMS design firm to raise exposure for his initiative. Gurung has also made strides in supporting Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and the Nepal disaster relief fund, which raised about one million dollars in 2015.
Gurung has joined many others in the “Stop Asian Hate” movement, which aims to halt the spike in Asian hate crimes and prejudice brought on by COVID-19. He got the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award in 2010 and was nominated for the CFDA/Swarovski Womenswear Award in 2011. He was also selected for the CFDA Fashion Incubator for 2010–2012 by major fashion editors, retailers, designers, and businesspeople.
