A teen boy died while skiing in New South Wales. Oliver Johnston, 18, is thought to have lost control on a slope, swerved off, and collided with trees, according to NSW Police.

At 11 a.m. on Sunday, the disaster occurred at Thredbo, in the Snowy Mountains.

Other skiers saw he was harmed and asked for assistance.

He was treated on the spot but died after being transported to a hospital.

Johnston had left Shore School in North Sydney last year, according to a statement released by the school.

In a statement, headmaster Dr. Timothy Petterson said, “It is with deep sadness that I write to inform you of an accident that has resulted in the unfortunate loss of Old Boy, Oliver Johnston.”
