Neil Dudgeon (born 2 January 1961) is an English actor who has been in the ITV drama series Midsomer Murders as DCI John Barnaby since 2011. In the major role, he took over for John Nettles.
Neil Dudgeon had a three-year run on the ever-popular whodunnit series Midsomer Murders, and he was a huge hit. Dudgeon has stepped in as the original DCI Barnaby’s cousin, avoiding a horrific conclusion while freeing the residents of Midsomer of their violent neighbors. With smaller roles on Casualty, London’s Burning, and A Touch of Frost, this performer isn’t afraid of televised blood and gore. Taking the reins for Midsomer’s much-anticipated Scandinavian-themed 100th episode, we spoke with Dudgeon about his life on set and off.
Midsomer Murders, season 18
The seemingly calm paradise of Midsomer can prove an unexpectedly fatal location to call home, from violent rivalries within the elite cycling community to unexpected flying objects.
In all-new episodes of “Midsomer Murders,” DCI John Barnaby (Neil Dudgeon) and DS Charlie Nelson (Gwilym Lee) investigate gruesome goings-on. In six new cases, Barnaby and Nelson are drawn into the dangerous worlds of kidnappings, UFO sightings, and international cycling, with the help of a new team member, forensic pathologist Dr. Kam Karimore (Manjinder Virk). This season’s other investigations include resolving a long-standing feud, breaking a case where art imitates death, and delving into a murder with secrets long buried in the hallowed ground.
Gregory Lancaster, a wealthy landowner, goes missing on the night of his murder, revealing a sinister web of secrets and lies in the town of Little Malton in their first new case. In their search for the criminal, Barnaby, Nelson, and Dr. Karimore are dragged into a dark world of body-snatching.
