The children’s cellphones were later found abandoned in the Flora Park neighborhood.
According to Capricorn FM, the Moti family’s lawyer, Philip Smit, who provided permission for the boys’ images to be broadcast, says the family is upset and suspects the event is ransom-motivated, but they have not yet heard from the kidnappers. The seven kidnappers are thought to have fled to Gauteng.
“We don’t have anything that would help us make a conclusion as to the motive of this particular event,” Limpopo police spokeswoman Motlafela Mojapelo said Friday night. We know the seven suspects were so violent that they began firing at random.”
Mojapelo has called on anyone with information relevant to the kidnapping case to contact them on the 24-hour Crime Stop number on 086 001 0111.
