At 72, the Bulbul-e-Pakistan, Nayyara Noor, died in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Her nephew, Raza Zaidi, told her followers of her demise on his Twitter account. Raza wrote- “loving aunt (tayi) Nayyara Noor. May her soul R.I.P. She was awarded the moniker of ‘Bulbul-e-Pakistan’ because of her lovely voice.”
She had performed alongside various great artists like Mehdi Hassan and Ahmed Rushdi. Likewise, Noor sang ghazals composed by great poets like Ghalib and Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Even though she left the earth, she will be remembered for hits like “Roothay Ho Tum” and “Kabhi Hum Khoobsurat Thay.”
