Ex-Melaka chief minister passes away at age 81.
Mohd Adib Mohamad Adam, a former chief minister of Melaka, passed away this morning at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) from old age. He was 81.
He was brought to HKL Friday night after complaining of breathing problems, according to his wife Zainiah Hussein, 77. She claimed that she learned of his passing this morning around 8:20.
“My husband had never complained of illness before, only in the last month, he suffered a stroke. He was quite weak and his memory was affected,” she said when met by Bernama at Darul Ehsan Mosque, Taman Tun Abdul Razak, Ampang, near here.
At 4:25 PM, more than 100 persons led by the mosque’s Imam, Mohamad Khairi Hussein, offered the funeral prayer. After the Maghrib prayers, he was laid to rest at the Melaka Heroes’ Mausoleum. Adib, who passed away on July 2, 1941, is survived by his wife and four kids.

He was then chosen to succeed Dato’ Mohamed Rahmat, who had been named Indonesia’s ambassador to Jakarta, as Minister of Information. Before being named Minister of Rural Development, Cooperatives, and Entrepreneurship, he held the position for two years.
