Police have located the missing 15-year-old girl, Mikella Debina who was allegedly taken from a Hawaii beach after convincing the suspected kidnapper to take her to a restaurant.

A 52-year-old man has been arrested after a 15-year-old girl was taken at knifepoint in Hawaii on Friday night. Police say Mikella DeBina has been reunited with her family and her alleged abductor, Duncan Kealoha Mahi, is now in custody. An investigation is now underway regarding the incident. The arrest comes following frantic search attempts for DeBina after her family alleged she had been taken by a man who tied up her boyfriend near a resort area around the Anaeho’omalu Bay.
Police soon put out a press release suggesting that the kid could be in the company of an older guy, between 45 to 60 years of age. Mikella’s aunt, Laureen DeBina, made a Facebook post late Friday outlining the unusual encounter.
“My niece and her boyfriend were held up at knifepoint south of Abays Beach,” she added. “Her lover was tied up and she was stolen! Please, please if anyone sees, hears, or has any information please contact the police.” In a Facebook post shared by another aunt, Sadie Seymour, scores of well-wishes were made for Mikella’s safe return. The post has received approximately 700 shares as of Saturday. In an interview with Hawaii News Now, Laureen DeBina stated the suspect directed her niece to “tie up her boyfriend, blindfold him, and then abducted her.”
DeBina also stated police were able to identify a signal from Mikella’s cell phone near the Kona International Airport, nearly 20 miles distant from Keāhole. There, authorities also located the teen’s purse and clothing. Neither of Mikella’s aunts quickly replied to The Daily Beast’s requests for comments Saturday.
