He described Ney’s chances of returning to the community and living a lawful life in the future as “extremely low.” According to Justice Johnson, the unemployed Ney did not have enough money to pay for the appointment with Ms Dunn, and had no excuse to pack a knife into a backpack and fly to the city from his crisis accommodation in Blacktown that day.

On August 13, 2021, 24 year old Michaela Dunn was booked for a sex work appointment in a Sydney CBD apartment by 22 year old Ney Mart  at about 1.30pm. However, Ney stabbed her to death with a knife. According to the ABC, Dunn shared her Clarence Street apartment with another woman, both of whom are believed to be sex workers. Police said, Dunn’s flatmate returned to their shared home on Tuesday afternoon, and discovered Dunn with fatal neck wounds.
