He recalled how protestors robbed him of his badge and equipment and threatened to murder him as he was taken down the Capitol steps, “grabbed, beaten, tased, all while being labeled a traitor to my nation.”

“Kill him with his own gun,” protestors yelled, he recounted. “Those phrases are still stuck in my head today.”

“I recall thinking there was a good risk of getting ripped apart or shot to death with my own weapon,” he continued.

During his roughly 15-minute speech, Fanone expressed his displeasure with several Republican senators and others who have downplayed the events of Jan. 6 and refused to investigate the incident despite pleas from law enforcement.

Fanone slammed his hand on the table, saying, “The carelessness exhibited to my colleagues is disgraceful.”
