Skibadee, whose full name was Alfonso Bondzie, started his career in 1993 on City Sound Radio and was a part of the famed drum’n’bass group SASASAS in recent years.

“Hello everyone, as Alphonso’s first-born, I sadly come with some sad news to say that Skibadee has died away,” his family wrote in a statement on Sunday. We ask for some privacy as a family, but may he rest in peace.”

Skibadee, who was born in Waterloo, south London, has performed all across the United Kingdom. From 2000 onwards, he was known for his collaborations with fellow jungle and drum’n’bass MC Shabba D. Skibadee received a number of MC awards as well as the Stevie Hyper D Lifetime Achievement Award.

Goodbye, old buddy; your memory will live on forever in our hearts.”

In late 1997, Skibadee and MC Det started a new project called 2Xfreestyle, which entailed layering a Drum and Bass tempo over a Hip-Hop beat, resulting in a “double time” sound. He would frequently execute this style with Stevie Hyper D, the style’s creator.
