I’ve always enjoyed performing and used to put on a lot of amateur dramatic productions when I was younger. I met two teachers from my A-level drama program when I was 18, and they pushed me to pursue performing. So I decided to enroll in drama school to pursue musical theater. That’s easier said than done because I auditioned for all of the acting schools I wanted to attend and was rejected from all of them!
However, one school — the Guildford School of Acting — contacted me and offered me a basic acting and musical theater course. My local theatrical group actually provided me with a [scholarship] so that I could attend since I would not have been able to otherwise. I fell in love with Guildford and thought to myself, “Wow, I’m going to do this as a job.”

I was in my second year at Urdang Academy, which prohibits students from auditioning for outside projects. “I’m not breaching the rules,” I said. I’m not out there enough.” I figured they were looking for a name, perhaps a celebrity. I had no intention of selling a film. My friend Lydia, on the other hand, pushed — or rather compelled — me to send in a tape. I utilized the whole thing as a learning experience because I didn’t think I’d be able to figure it out. And I didn’t put any undue stress on myself.
