Max Eisen, a Holocaust survivor, civic activist, and educator, has passed away. Mr. Eisen and CTV Barrie originally collaborated on a 2005 television program called March of the Living. In 1944, he was only 15 years old when he was sent to Auschwitz after being deported from Hungary. He spoke to CTV News about his time in the death camp and how the majority of his family members—including his parents, grandparents, and siblings—were killed in the gas chambers.
Eisen was well-known for his work with the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies and lived to tell his tale. His entire life was devoted to Holocaust teaching and motivating people of all ages to confront prejudice. On Friday, July 8 at noon, a funeral service will be placed at Benjamin’s Park Memorial Chapel in North York.
