Thomas and Xavier Roberts first connected at one of these artisans shows in 1976.
He begged her to give him dolls so he could sell them in Georgia, where he resided and had a job. Then Thomas stopped letting him sell her doll babies. In 1978, Roberts developed his own version, and in 1982, he granted Coleco the rights to produce the dolls in large quantities under the brand Cabbage Patch Kids.
