“The tide was, it felt like you could feel it under the water pushing and twisting you,” he explained, “and there was one time when I was swimming and I looked up and I was facing absolutely the other way.” Sharron Davies, a fellow Plymothian, and Olympian, has been coaching Mark as part of his preparation for the tournament.
He has persuaded her to go from her home near Bath to swim with him on Friday – her first true sea swim since she was 11 years old.
Sharron stated, “In cold water, I am the world’s worst swimmer. I am completely and completely allergic to it. I hardly ever venture into 80 degrees, and I have Reinards, which is a condition in which you lose blood from your fingers and toes. So I’m a little concerned about that. And it would be quite embarrassing if this incredible athlete, with only one arm, had to save an Olympian because I couldn’t swim.”

“I had a very tiny desire, and the money would have been fantastic, but what I really wanted to accomplish was get eyes on the website so everyone could grasp the purpose of what Reorg were attempting to achieve,” he explained.
“This has suddenly exploded, and this is what it’s all about: community. Bringing individuals together who have a similar passion and, in a beautiful way, go through common hardships, which is what draws them together and helps them with any challenges they may have.”
