“With substantial shifts occurring in college sports, the timing of this decision offers the Association with consistent leadership over the coming months, as well as the chance to contemplate what the president’s future role will be,” DeGioia stated. “It also allows for the seamless selection and recruitment of the next president.”
In January, NCAA member schools approved a new constitution, and they are already working to update the structure and mission to meet future demands.
