Police in Wisconsin has arrested a suspect in the death of Lily Peters, a 10-year-old child.

Authorities said a juvenile was arrested Tuesday evening in connection with the death of 10-year-old Illiana “Lily” Peters.

“The suspect was not a stranger,” Chippewa Falls Police Chief Matthew Kelm said during a news conference. “The suspect was known to the victim.” Police do not believe “there is any danger to the community at this time,” Kelm added

Officers carried out a search warrant at an address in the block where Lily had gone to see her aunt the day before she went missing on Sunday. Kelm remarked. He didn’t say whether the search turned up anything useful. “We gathered evidence and conducted additional interviews,” Kelm added.

The chief would divulge anything about the cause of death, the suspect’s relationship to Lily, or the location of the arrest, other than to indicate it was within city limits.

Authorities began looking for Lily when her father reported that she had not come home from a visit to her aunt’s residence on Sunday evening. A bicycle believed to be hers was discovered in the bushes along the walking track on Sunday night, according to police.

Wooded Area- Body Discovered

Lily’s body was discovered in a wooded area near the walking trail around 9:15 a.m. Monday.

According to Kelm, police had already received more than 200 tips concerning the case. He said, “These tips were important to solving this case.”

Kelm advised people to stay away from the walkway and the forested area, referring to it as “the crime scene.”
