In his autobiography, coach Frank Broyles stated that Brittenum was “the best passer on the move that I’ve ever seen.” On the sprint-out series, he could throw it like a rope that had frozen. Despite going undrafted, he joined the Miami Dolphins practice squad in 1967. In 1968, he played for the San Diego Chargers for one season.
