“I have served as Gladys Berejiklian’s Deputy Premier for five years, during which time she has led this State through some of its darkest days,” John Barilaro said in a statement.

“The NSW Nationals continue to support a strong and stable NSW Coalition Government.”
An internal election inside the NSW Liberal Party, due to take place on Tuesday, will determine the next leader of the state.
Ms. Berejiklian stated during her tearful statement that the ICAC inquiry had left her with “no choice” except to resign.
“Resigning now goes against every fiber of my being… “I enjoy my profession and helping others in the community, but I have been given no choice than to obey the statement,” she explained.
“Continuing as Premier will wreak havoc on the state government at a time when our whole emphasis should be on the difficulties facing NSW.”
“I don’t want to be a diversion from the state government’s primary emphasis during this pandemic, which has always been and always will be the well-being of our citizens.”
