Jeff considers Rex to be one of his major instructors and mentors to this day. He was a founding member of PERFECT HEART in 1990. He earned his first MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD from The Singing News Magazine during his tenure there.
In 2002, he was approached by LOUISE MANDRELL, who asked him to put together a Quartet for her theatre in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. As a result, he assisted in the formation of THE TRIUMPHANT QUARTET, with whom he performed, organized, and produced music for 12 years.
